HOW WE HELPED

Digital Infrared Cameras

Identification of potential distributors and end users to meet with during a Trade Mission visit to Australia and New Zealand.

This established designer and manufacturer of digital infrared cameras advised our office of their interest in identifying distributor and end user opportunities in Australia and New Zealand. It was also their intention to participate on a March 2009 Trade Mission to the region hosted by our organization to explore opportunities in expanding sales to this market.

RESULT: Our office researched key contacts and organized 15
targeted meetings in Melbourne, Sydney, and the North Island of New Zealand with a combination of distributors and end users. The company has since reported achieving sales of over $550k in the 4 months following the mission.

5-Axis CNC Machining Center

Identification of an in-country service partner.

This company’s 5-axis machining center is a turnkey package, primarily used for cylinder head porting for the performance racing industry. After making their first sale to the Australian market, the company faced a dilemma in that they did not have in-country installation and maintenance support.

RESULT: An in depth search for the appropriate service partner
by Foley & Associates led to the company appointing a Sydney based firm as their in-country service and support representative. Representatives from both companies have since traveled to each others’ respective countries and facilities for training and the first machining center was successfully installed in Sydney in November 2008. Foley & Associates wrote a Press Release for Australian Manufacturing Technology Magazine to annouce this partnership

Computer Automated Forensic DNA Software

Market Research, Trade Mission Participation, and Follow Up

A recognized developer of Computer Automated Forensic DNA Software required information on current DNA lab testing technology available in Australia to determine whether a market existed for their software. The result of this research encouraged the company’s representative to travel to Australia as part of a Trade Mission in March 2009 to introduce their technology to State and National forensics laboratories.

RESULT: The Foley & Associates office contacted the key
police and private forensics laboratories in Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra organizing 13 meetings with top Australian scientists and leaders in this field. As a direct result of these meetings, the company was invited to contribute to Australia’s national policy on DNA forensic analysis and to present at a national conference in Melbourne in April 2009. They have also been invited to conduct separate workshops in both Melbourne and Sydney as part of their April follow-up visit.

Biopharmaceutical Production Equipment

Market Research and Background Check

A manufacturer of high quality production equipment for pilot and commercial scale biopharmaceutical manufacturing, this company needed to know more information about their potential customers Down Under to successfully close a sale.

RESULT: Foley & Associates completed in depth research
about the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, as well as information on this company’s key targets. Contact details and the names of key decision makers were included to facilitate all future correspondence. The company is now supplying their high tech equipment to one of Australia’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturers, and is in the process of approaching a new Queensland innovative pharmaceutical organization that is in its development stages.

Rail Gear

Key Partner Search

This manufacturer of quality rail gear, and track and signal materials requested to be connected with key organizations and suppliers in the Australian rail industry so they might begin supplying their products to the Australian market.

RESULT: The Foley & Associates office arranged 19 meetings with key rail industry sector contacts over the course of 5 days in three cities for this company. The company is in ongoing discussions with multiple Australian companies and has provided quotes, product for evaluation, follow up meetings and demonstrations in the United States. They are also in discussion to work collaboratively with an Australian company on a rail works project in Mexico.

ERP and Supply Chain Software

Business Set Up and Referrals

After expanding into China, this software organization saw an opportunity to further expand into Australia. Without a network of contacts already in place Down Under, this posed a challenge for them in terms of appointing legal and accounting assistance to facilitate this expansion.

RESULT: The company contacted Foley & Associates and was given referrals to multiple business services to assist in the establishment of an Australian office. In just one visit, Foley & Associates was able to help them meet State economic development teams to determine the ideal location for set-up, a legal team who incorporated their business, as well as end users and potential business partners to get the ball rolling. The office also assisted in the coordination of a speaking engagement for the company’s President at a Sydney based Supply Chain & Logistics conference. The company has hired a member of staff to service the Australian market and is confident of their future success.
