Merissa Cohen – International Trade & Marketing Consultant

Merissa Cohen joined Foley & Associates in late 2009 as an International Trade and Marketing Consultant. She provides assistance to U.S. exporters interested in entering the Australian and New Zealand markets.

Originally from Florida, Merissa received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and a Masters in Business Administration in International Business from the University of Florida. While completing her Masters degree, Merissa spent one year at the University of New South Wales in Sydney on a post-graduate exchange. During this time, Merissa interned at General Electric: Commercial Finance where she designed and implemented the “Digital Cockpit”, an automated system of delinquency trend reports used by the collections management team and risk analysts.

Merissa began her career at Capital Asset Protection, a corporate security firm in Pennsylvania, where she oversaw marketing activities, managed external relationships with industry media groups and managed the client database.

After relocating to Australia in 2008, Merissa joined Synergy, Western Australia’s largest energy retailer. At Synergy Merissa wrote creative briefs and communications plans; developed promotional marketing material; conducted market research and analysis; and completed campaign overviews.

She has also served as a consultant for a coalition of 25 women business owners in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua through SIFE, a global non-profit organization. As a financial literacy consultant, Merissa presented on various systems of extending consumer credit and inter-coalition loaning, collateral, building credit and credit agreements.

In her spare time, Merissa enjoys cooking, snorkeling and hiking along Sydney’s coast.
