Melissa Yorizane Bush – International Trade & Investment Advisor
Originally from California, Melissa joined Foley & Associates in early 2009 with a focus on providing international trade advice and American inward investment attraction advice to a wide range of clients across all industry sectors.
Melissa has earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of California, San Diego and a Master of International Business and Law from the University of Sydney. She has also completed studies in Macroeconomics from the University of California in Berkeley.
Prior to joining Foley & Associates Pty Ltd, Melissa worked for Link-Up Consulting in Australia, where she offered business advice and support to executive customers globally, whilst analyzing data and process flow charts for the business. Link-Up is a consulting business headquartered in Sydney, who work with organizations’ management teams to attain and exceed their business objectives.
Melissa has also completed internships with the U.S. Commercial Service and the Community Legal Centre State Office for New South Wales, based in Sydney.
During her time with the U.S. Commercial Service, Melissa compiled market research for a broad range of industries with a particular focus on mining/heavy industry, military, travel and tourism. She met with American clients visiting the marketplace, identified and facilitated introductions to potential Australian business partners on their behalf; coordinated trade events for clients and dignitaries and updated the Client Management System, a database for over 20,000 U.S. and Australian organizations.
Before moving to Australia Melissa spent two years in Japan working for local and prefectural government as an English Teacher. This involved working with a core group of teachers and council members to develop targeted lesson plans for children and adults, as well as delivering presentations on effective teaching and cultural awareness. Additionally, she served as State Representative for the National Association of Japan Exchange and Teaching Association.
Melissa moved to Australia in 2006 and in her spare time enjoys hiking, camping and craftwork.
